Is the AI a little too passive for you guys?
Just finished endless run yesterday, and I notice the AI barely expands their teritory. kin of sheredyn tried to harass me early by capturing my camp, but it's more of a nuisance than real trouble because I can just take back and attach with closed border. They don't do fortress, don't expand, don't even make good cities, they just exist.

It's pretty much turned off, max difficulty and they didn't expand at all, I had half the map when the game ended and they didn't even try to expand beyond half a dozen territories, most of the game was just me beating boring random creeps and getting annoyed by quest popup spam.

The AI attacked my armies a couple of times but even with all the bonuses their comp was weak and they didn't know how to play.

Most AI armies spent time attacking & chasing random maggots around ignoring as I sieged their city

Yup. I was playing aspect, had a very friendly Tahuk neighbour with almost all the treaties except for military alliance and shared victory. Then I got close to achieving victory, Tahuk neighbour and 2 others immediately declared war on me -- and did almost nothing! Attacked my army once or twice, but never went after any on my cities or even camps.

It seems they started to take more actively free territories by the turn ~130, but that is waaay to late to make any difference

Not in the beta branch. The new ai is a lot more agressive. I started a play (Endless div) yesterday on the beta branch and before the first tidefall i was in 3 wars. So the ai problem is beeing taken care of already.
I'm on the tutorial on testing branch getting my ass whooped by the necrophages. MFs comes with around 1.5k ~ 2k cp, distributed on multiple armies, and tries to siege my second city around turn 70. I'm not really sure how my second army on the other side of the continent helped me during that first siege, but I am still somehow surviving by ~ turn 130. Lost multiple battles due to their ranged units absurd dmg.

Of course, all of this was prompted by settling on their neighborhood. I'm loving this game.

In my experience only the Necrophages will actually declare war on the player.

tbh you don't really need all out war for the AI to be active. they just need to be more aggressive setting up camps and thwarting player attempt to expand (like what the shredyn AI did via stealing camps or just attack them outside the border). But according to others looks like they improved it already. nice.

yeah i stopped playing because the bad AI, my Tahuk enemy did not build structures at all nor colonise anything, most of enemies allied to me on endless, had no challenge at all, they need to up the difficulty a lot, this is not fun, the game has potential tho, it feels good to play, the ambience and graphics are very good, the races too, the story has a lot of DEI in it which is also bad it is influenced by ''modern social norms'', also every companion is like a lover which i hate, they force you to be gay or some animal/alien lover. i dont like any of that

Yep, Dimplomacy and AI really need an upgrade. I've played a game of Humankind and a couple of CIV 5 games just to compare the feeling of playing on the hardest difficulty and the AI difference (especially in CIV 5) is incredible.

I really like the factions, the art and the tactic battles in this game but competitive AI is definitely something to be desired. Hopefully they will do something about it in the future updates cause right now the game becomes repetitive after you learn each faction's core gameplay idea and that's pretty bad for a 4X which is supposed to have almost endless replayability.

I am in the beta branch, and the AI is way behind me on the score by turn 26. Turn 30 -- and I am the only one who is walking on the just unearthed territories, fighting fortresses, grabbing strategic resources and natural wonders. No one is trying to contest me. Very pathetic Endless AI.

Alright just decide to test the PTR myself due to the conflicting report. in my experience so far the AI is more active in claiming teritory, tahuks and aspect saw a lot of improvement in claiming teritory. However even on endless they're still very passive. Even the kin of shredyn become chummy with me quite quickly, only after one defeat after they tried to attack the 1 hp galardi, only to get their army destroyed by the reinforcement (which means the AI don't consider reinforcement when attacking unit, maybe another feedback for dev). After that defeat, close border revoked, they asked for NAP and shared research. So it's still leaves a lot to be desired for the highest difficulty.
