Nobody have seen these Lost for a long while, they are not even in the legends for most of the races in the galaxy. The Endless where the gods who disappeared, still, the scientifically minded would say that the Endless were a very developed race not out of reach for the most daring among them. And now a lady appears on the beach and tells you that there is an ancient god under the ground, and you have to drop everything and start worshiping it with everything you got? Nah
Like it makes a lot of sense that Necrophage would probably destroy the planet and leave it a ruined husk if they followed their nature and killed the god, but actually prosper when they don’t and sort of coexist with it. Meanwhile you figure the Tahuks or Aspects could probably build something new and maybe even better after the god was killed/left.
Idk it was kinda lame that every faction is supposed to worship the god for the optimal outcome.
Here, on the other hand, the difference between the good and the bad ending is not in how much effort I put into it, but in what I believe to be the right way. So, the good ending does not reward my effort, it rewards my views and beliefs? And the bad one penalises my beliefs? ♥♥♥♥ off, game, you are not in the position to preach
But as a heads up, the lady that randomly shows up is a Nakalim, in-lore they were scions of the Lost and are their fanatic followers, she and her kind basically owe everything to them and it makes sense that her approach is to advise you to bend over backwards to them.
Despite the Necrophage being told by the Craver that they were creations of the Endless and they are still slaves to their hunger as a built in tool for emergency containment, with much of the dialogue being about how they can be so much more, yet they still will bow down and worship or try and impress as their only option regardless of your choices through the faction quests, which is all about changing away from their base instincts?
OK cool.
They can't try rebel?
they can't give in to their hunger and scour the world to secure containment?
Nope just worship.
All choices, instantly irrelevant.
Endless as a series is built on the backs of their questlines and lore. removing them would suck the soul out of the game for me and defeat the purpose of playing this over stuff like Age of Wonders.
