It felt like the writer forgot what was said in the story itself.

The woman seemed insistent on hurrying us to find the machine of ancients that could save her daughter, but I didn't get why. If it can raise the dead, why rush while shes still alive?

The weirdest part of the quest is the characters keep going back and forth on whether or not the "youngling" is dead. In one case, we found her 'still.' To get revenge on the world for her dead child she manipulates members of the hive to betray us and kill us. Then it's mentioned the youngling still "still stirs" and that the machine can "still save her."

To cause the traitor the maximum amount of suffering a plan is made: Fix the resurrection machine of the ancients, revive the dead child of the traitor, then kill it slowly right before her eyes.

As soon as I build it, the characters all seem to forget this plan. It's never brought up again, and we're given the opportunity to use the machine to enhance ourselves or raise the child from the dead in the name of being more than mindless world devouring zombies.

We're given a final opportunity to kill the traitor, but no mention is made of the child until after. If you do kill the traior, the child will slip away and be completely forgotten by the hive.
