Doomwraiths
How am I supposed to deal with those things? Their military might is far greater than what I can put out and once they hit my cities with the reduced fidsi, I no longer have any production.

Yeah, I just had a Doomwraith kill my only opponent, and it has already ruined one other game where I was 50+ turns in; it turns up and just kills me, as I don't have an army strong enough to beat it. I think Doomwraiths need to come much later or build difficulty over time.

Worst part is that, as I mentioned in my post, their Gloom or whatever the ability is called, reduced industry production to 0, so I needed to buy out every construction/improvement. I would need to wait at least another couple of monsoons before I could even dream of establishing an army capable of taking one down, and by the time I did have enough upgraded troops I would probably also end up in negative dust, since their negative effects had me only generating less than 10 dust from both cities and all camps I had at the time.

My first Doomwraith was only like 1k power? I killed 3 of them the first time they spawned?
stheanimefan 9 月 23 日 上午 1:39
1k was still beyond the power of my heroes and armies at the time. Particularly since they only showed up after a failed attack on a fortress when I needed to rebuild my forces but their presence reduced my production to nothing, meaning that I could not deal with them. Having stuff that cripples my economy appearing early just by being near my cities was not fun.

You need to stack 2 armies and fight with 10-12 units. Then you can defeat them. They are kind of mini bosses.
They even aren't a slight problem for the Kin. Any decently leveled defender hero and four basic infantry can take out a doomwraith stack with no health damage in 1-2 combats, depending largely on terrain. Everyone else has to gang up on doomwraiths with two stacks and (usually) accept some unit losses unless late game techs/luxuries are in play.

If you are lucky you can blast them down with sacred flame towers (and enough dust) of the Tahuks for easier fights. But that would mean to only build cities near ridges/mountains.

Their military was on par with what I could muster, alternatively there is research to unlock spending influence to send them away or gold to kill them without a fight. The gold one comes later, but the influence one I unlocked about at the time they first showed up. And now you know you need a decent military by the time they show up

I'm not sure if they scale based on difficulty, but playing on the default setting they weren't much of an issue for me playing as the Last Lords. I used a single stack with a balanced set of three heroes and two units. If they don't scale, maybe that could be implemented to make them less punishing on lower difficulties?

I noticed mixed feedback about this, some people did not have much of a problem with them while others consider they are too strong. Do not hesitate to include additional info, like if the Doomwraith you consider too strong was on Tidefall 2 or in the latest stage.

I think doomwrath should scale with difficulty. More experienced players who already play on higer difficulties have no problems with doomwrtaths because enemy ai armies are on the same level of strength or stronger. But new players may be intimidated seeing a 1k strong army so soon in the game. So maybe make them weaker on lower difficulties or spawn them as a single unit without lizzards.

Yea I killed two of them in the tutorial campaign and had very mixed results.

The first one I killed was already damaged from... another army I assume.
It had one of those fat, ranged guys in it, but given the whole army was already damaged, I thought I was fine. But if that fat thing kills something, it'll spawn a whole new unit, which caused me to lose all but 2 units.

Second fight had an kinda agile, dog looking thing as it's leader and this army wasn't damaged pre-fight. However the terrain worked massively in my favour so I could bottleneck them and just fight them one at a time. I almost lost one unit because the leader could go berserk and increase it's damage, but that was easy compared to the last fight.

So in the end I guess maybe it's a learning thing?

Sounds good in theory but between ridges and fortress it makes it challenging as there are a lot of choke points, if not outright death valleys and outright areas cant reach the main battlefield. Also the wraiths for me once get on a ridge/higher ground 1 shots my troops.

You def need a balanced army , at least in my case (army with archer support) but sometimes if I have gaps in my line they'll just walk through my troops and go to the rear without much of a fuss.

not sure if this is intended or bug.

To kill them seems to require 2 full strength armies. Even then expect to take some losses. If you kill them as soon as they appear they won't pile up. It is also important to research the tech that lets you close the rifts that they come through to prevent more of them.

IIRC, this tech appears in era 3.
