or I should say a grand campaign that is open ended and not victory conditioned to death?

I meant there is the usual one more turn stuff to play after a win but the best you could do otherwise would be to remove all the win conditions other then time

All but time

you can disable all win conditions when setting a game up and that will just make the turn limit be endless until you either clear the map of enemies or get bored and quit

For the campaign part. It is to soon to tell you a NO, but at the moment is not a priority. At the end each faction plays their unique story, so technically the first game of the faction its the campaign? Perhaps that is not the classical campaign mode

For the turn limit we just introduced a setting that display when the AI + World is moving, so you just need to wait a few seconds and all the turn will be "for you"

So the game will always end at turn limit no matter what?

If you turn off score victory does the game still end at 300 turns?

4X Games aren't really meant to be played infinitely. They break.
Once you cross that victory threshold you are just playing cookie clicker.
