It's not perfect and I absolutely do NOT like the writing at all but all-in-all it's a very good 4X game. It's not going to make everyone who liked EL happy, that's for sure. No sequel ever does but that's no reason to be angry or disappointed. We had access to a demo for several weeks before the release and could see what we were buying so if you didn't like what you saw and bought it anyway, well, that's on you. If you didn't play the demo or do your homework, again, that's on you.
I'd say that I'm getting a bit tired of reading these hyperbolic attacks on a game from folks who failed to do the research before buying but that would be pointless as it's a behaviour that's never going to abate.
Me too. I think it will be next up for a sequel if EL2 is successful enough for them to keep the doors open.
talk about an introduction not burying the lead ;)
oh man what am i missing? I found both endless space and ES2 games to be horrid.
After discovering Distant Worlds when the Legends DLC dropped, I went on a space-4X binge and picked up a host of similar titles and EL1 was one of them. I admit I didn't like it very much as the big circles turned me off as well as the weird soundscape. But after playing EL1 for several hundred hours, I was open to giving EL2 a chance and I'm very glad I did.
I also found that I could enjoy EL1 as a result and the soundscape was no longer weird.
