I'm pretty sure the LZ 169-S' armament got changed away from rockets when the Halmiax bomber was added.
We're still adding weapons to the game so all of the ship guns will probably shuffle around a bit in the upcoming patches. I'll add the change to the patch notes.
Currently the LZ 169-S' armament is set to plasma cannon in the config file for the ship so it's behaving correctly.
I'm not sure if we're gonna' stick to a single gun per ship or not.
Ideally, I'd like to have some kind of loadout/equip UI for each ship where the player can configure the primary armament, shield type, and paintjob/skin, but we're not quite there yet. Something else we've discussed internally is the ability to swap between different armaments during a mission.
Having a single primary armament for each ship helps make each ship feel unique, though. I'm not sure if allowing weapon swaps would be better or worse.
Anyway I'm rambling. Good morning.
In regards to changing weapons/switching mid-mission: I'm probably in the minority, but I prefer challenge through restriction to being able do everything. I feel like crewmates do the customization pretty well already, and sticking to your guns (pun intended) when you've made a wrong decision is just more fun. Going through the thicket with an unupgraded plasma was agonising, but also very entertaining. I did switch to machine guns immediately after that run, though.
The F69PH's flak cannons tear most enemies in the Thicket apart. Individual enemy types do have different weaknesses to different types of weapons - and although the differences in damage are a little difficult to see in the heat of combat, some guns are better than others for dealing with different threats.
I finally got incendiary weapon upgrades added in last night and the machinegun is pretty crazy now when it's fully upgraded.
Currently working on this:

Hopefully once these icons are displaying properly, the different benefits that various crew members give the player will be more readily understandable.
That reminds me, Flak has a fire upgrade already, does it not? I think I'll pay the Thicket another visit later.
Anyroad, I won't keep you from work. Cheers for the insights, and until next time!
