UE4 Prerequisites (x64) Setup Failed

whe trying to install UE4 Prerequisites (C++ 2015) i get the error message:
Error 0x80070666 another version of this product is alread installed. Instalation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this prtoduct, use Add/Remove Programs in the control panel.

So I unistalled C++ 2015 from the control panel, reloaded the Solus launcher and now I get this error:
0x80070017 Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

Im running Windows 7 without Sp1 installed and cannot install the KB2999226 fix mentioned on this forum

Is installing SP1 a possibility? You could manually install KB29999226 but I'm not sure what that would do without SP1 and I usually don't recommend forcing patches. Windows 7 without SP1 is quickly becoming an outdated OS I'm afraid.

I had the same problem if you do the following this will work:

Step 1 go to: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5842

If you have a 64 Bit O/S download and install: Windows6.1-KB976932-x64
If you have a 32 Bit O/S download and install: Windows6.1-KB976932-x86

Step 2 go to: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49984

If you have a 64 Bit O/S download and install: VC_redist.x64.exe
If you have a 32 Bit O/S download and install: VC_redist.x86.exe

Step 3 when installing the “VC_redist.x64.exe” if prompted with either repair of modify click: Repair

Now the game will run!

Gonna resurrect an old post, with a good reason.
I'm hitting this exact same issue with 2 other games. I can't install the KB2999226 without SP1.
KB2999226 is a patch that should enable software made with Windows 10 to run on Windows 7, so I think SP1 is unavoidable.
I'm installing it now.

On windows 8.1 it should just work. Have you made sure that all windows updates have been applied?

Fixed it by installing SP1 and applying the fix.

this worked perfectly. thank you (i didnt have to do step 2.)
