I got passed the cave of damp and am on the verge of hypothermia, I managed to get passed the motion detector things and reached a save (again, freezing to death) and when I tried to take a nap to restore health the motion detector killed me.

That's all fine and good, but when I try to load my save game I just fall endlessly through the world for a second or so and then instantly die. Please help?
