The Bad Ending is Actually the Best Ending (SPOILERS)
I just finished playing all three games plus the DLCs in a row, completing every side quest available along the way. In the third game, there are three possible endings for Ciri, based on five key choices you make regarding her throughout the story. During my playthrough, I tried to be the best dad possible.

I noticed online that many people say if you got the bad ending, it meant you didn’t trust Ciri or let her be herself. I strongly disagree, in my opinion, a good father should guide their children, teaching them to be responsible and emotionally strong. My Geralt was extremely supportive of Ciri but led by example, so I didn’t let her steal the horses in that side quest or destroy Avallac’h’s office.

When I reached the "bad ending", where Ciri goes into the portal to face the White Frost and never returns, and saw Geralt’s actions in the epilogue, I was devastated. After reflecting on this and watching the other two endings, I came to believe that the one I got, while sad, was actually the best. The White Frost was introduced in the first game as an inevitable threat to the entire world, and in the third game we learn that Ciri is the only one who can stop it. By teaching her responsibility and maturity, she realizes that she must make the ultimate sacrifice to save not only her loved ones but the world itself.

From this perspective, the so-called “good ending” is actually the worst, as it’s selfish, Ciri chooses to doom the world just to spend time as a Witcher with Geralt. After finishing the game, I played both DLCs, and in Blood and Wine, seeing Yennefer come to Corvo Bianco to stay with Geralt and retire softened the bitterness I felt from the bad ending. Even though Geralt lost his child, she died a hero he could be proud of, and he still found a measure of happiness.

One more thing, knowing that Ciri is alive in the next game makes this ending even better, because then we know for sure she didn’t die stopping the White Frost. She somehow succeeded and saved the world. What do you think about that?

Huh?
In the good ending Ciri stops the white frost AND returns to become a Witcher (because she learned from Geralt to believe in herself and goodness enough to actually defeat the white frost) AND Geralt doesn’t die. In the bad ending we are actually kinda led to assume that she died trying to stop the white frost, i. e. did not stop it. The fact that she’s alive and a Witcher in part 4 just means that CDPR made the good ending canon.

Ciri defeats White Frost and survives in all 3 endings.
Ending 1: Ciri abandons her destiny. Fakes her death to Emhyr, to start again as a nameless monster hunter, living on a trail like Geralt.
Ending 2: Ciri no longer trusts Geralt, either because he sold her out (taking bribe is only flag that guarantees this ending) or was overbearing (multiple minor bad choices), and abandons him to start again.
Ending 3: Ciri embraces challenges that come with her bloodline, succeeds Emhyr to use power that comes with throne for greater good, and according to Dandelion, passes this challenge in flying colors.

OP, I think your summation misses one important thing, and it throws your argument off. Avallac'h stresses again and again that to defeat the White Frost, Ciri needs absolute control of her powers. For THAT to happen, she needs confidence in herself and her decision-making capabilities. By showing support for her decisions, Geralt's showing her that he has confidence in her, and thus builds up her confidence. As a father-figure, that's ANOTHER thing that he's supposed to do: building up her trust in herself.
You don't actually get locked into the "bad" ending if you don't steal the horses and give Ciri the necklace instead of trashing Avallach's office. There's just 3 decisions that will decide whether Ciri lives or dies, you can see it in the flashbacks when she enter the tower.

First one is the snowball fight, second is the Avallach's office and third is Skjall's grave. Whether you choose to steal the horses or not doesn't have any impact on this, even if Ciri gets hurt by your decision.

You only need to get 2 out of 3 right for Ciri to live. So, I always pick the snowball fight and visiting Skjall's grave, because there's just no reason not to do that. I never choose to trash Avallach office, because that's just immature, and I like how the necklace looks on Ciri and what it represents. (Also the fact that she will have the necklace at the very end, in White Orchard, is a nice touch)

So you can still be a good and somewhat strict father, while also making sure that Ciri will get to live.

The first time I finished the game I got the ending where Ciri "died"
I was crushed, it was still in the DO NOT POST SPOILERS time so no one was really saying anything.
Later I read about how I should support everything Ciri asked for in a positive manner even if I thought they were wrong.
Spent so much time playing this game while the world outside crumbled around me. Divorce is a ♥♥♥♥♥. Felt every wrong answer as if it was mine alone. Finished the game twice in hotel rooms.
The DLCs did make it better and I always ended my games with the DLCs with a red head at my side. Just felt better. I always felt like the Raven had moved on and it was time for a new start.
