No More Room in Hell 2

No More Room in Hell 2

Maybe decrease the amount of responders in a round.
Ima throw this thought i have into the room in order to see what the rest of the community thinks of it.

After the "Spawn" update you are now (more or less) able to choose the difficulty you wanna play on. This will make sure that (hopefully) only people that feel ready for nightmare, will encounter it, decreasing the difficulty of nightmare significantly.
In addition, the easiest difficulty now features respawns. Making sure that the amount of players in one round stays high even with a high deathcount.

A big problem i have with the game are these 8 player lobbies. Working together with 4 random people can be a hassle sometimes. So you can imagine how hard it is with 7.
The devs propably stayed with the huge playercount from the original in order to make sure harder difficulties dont become impossible to complete. Basicly spawning more people with the thought that some will die along the way.
Many people dont realize that a full lobby of 8 players is both harder and more tideos to complete then when the lobby is only half full. Due to itemdilution.
This can be felt the most at the beginning of Pottsvile, where there is never enough ammo around in order to sustain 8 responders. Meaning two or three are always doomed to either die or waddle behind everyone, doing nothing until they find something in the communitycenter or even further into the round.

But now, that people entering nightmare actualy come either already prepared to fight or have the skill to scavange something together before they die and with frequent respawns on the easiest difficulty, i dont think we need 8 players in one lobby to buffer for a high bodycount anymore.

If it where up to me i would cut the lobbysize in half. From 8 down to 4. But since there are already so many coop games with 4 player coop and NMRIH2 desperatly needs something to differentiate itself from other coop titles, i think 5 players would also be acceptable.

With this change the devs could finaly start implementing some changes to increase playercooperation while automaticly making sure that the game both stays chalanging yet beatable and making sure that there will always be enough ammunition to go around, even on hard or nightmare where lootspawns are decreased.

Cant Agree, but I do see your point. The Nightmare/Hard difficulty is going through tweaks still. They are tinkering with zombie counts, respawn and limb health.

I think they need to find a way to spawn more runners personally. Thats 90% of the threat imo. Armored and shield zombies aren't really a threat when you can gimp them with any bladed weapon or a good old kneecap shot.

Runners break the loop by requiring teamwork and coordinated efforts to bring them down quickly. They increase the likelyhood of death and challenge by shifting the players focus allowing the slower shamblers to move in.

Currently you can pretty much shoot zombies willy nilly because of the ammo count and weapon stocks. It removes the entire challenge of becoming affected or even risking damage in melee.

i fear in order to make hard and nightmare an actual chalenge without cranking up the infected spawns to rediculous levels, the number of responders should decrease. There is just no way to balance a difficulty against 8 players that are fully stocked from the beginning and know both combat and the map like the back of their hand. In my (propably controversal) opinion hardmode should only allowe 6 and nightmare only 4 responders as maximum playercount. This would keep the game challenging, making it easier to cooperate (especialy through voicechat), and making it easier to keep your weapon stocked due to the ammo not getting so diluted and forcing the responders to actuly work together to keep each other safe. Since losing one responder means losing a quarter of your firepower.

You´ve found one of the biggest problems here but you gotta be carefull about how you would fix it. The NMRIH franchies is build on these slow moving zombies. Increasing runners would balance firearm usage but make meele even more useless and risky then it already is.

The only way to fix this issue would be to reduce ammospawn even more and nerf all traits that have something to do with ammunition. Practicly forcing responders to use meele for most interactions.
If we increase zombiespeed and focus more on gunplay, the game would just evolve into a version of Left 4 Dead without special infected, coop features, modsupport and polish.

And as we have seen with turtlerocks attempt, no game (let alone a EA title with such little polish) can beat l4d2 at their own game.

I don’t like personally reducing the match player count because having more peeps in a game is fun overall. Nightmare should be tweaked after they implement every missing stuff from the UE4 before tweaking balance.

Nightmare and game balance is something at this point should just be held off until the missing content gets added in. First game’s nightmare was a whole different league to point out from but how the apparent sequel works in terms of combat and rules is trivial compared to it.

I tip my hat to you that you can still find entertainment playing with 7 randoms that dont talk to you and just run ahead like there playing an on rail shooter. In this current form open lobbies are just simply not for me. I start catching myself running away from my teammates on powerplant to just do POIs just to be away from it all and play the game on my own pace.
(I know not the right discussion... sry). But maybe a solomode would realy be a good idea at this point.

hard agree, it should be 8 responders for casual/classic, 6 for hard, 4-6 for nightmare (i lean more towards 4). If they cannot increase the # of zombies for whatever reason they need to make it harder somehow, and thats the simplest way.
