Additionally, when I swing a big weapon and for whatever reason the arc decides their head isn't hit, theres not like a real indication of damage. They just kind of sway a bit.
The Zombies are also a little bit spongey, it becomes a chore to chop down wave after wave of them. I was playing on classic the whole time, and it felt fairly monotonous due to how repetitive it go, back pedal, whack, back pedal, whack.
The other parts of making melee combat rewarding is sounds, variability (attacking from different directions), and visual effects.
At first I felt the rush when they back up. But then it gets very repetetive and annoying. This should be something very random, not so often.
IMO, that is what kinda killed L4D for me. Everyone is just meta speedrunning to the next checkpoint. There isn't much of a survival gameplay anymore due to the lack of rewards and benefits in killing zombies. Shouldn't the zombies have a chance of dropping items as well
