No More Room in Hell 2

No, it's not activism. It's disconnected corporate garbage that should be studied.
I don't think the developers decisions for this game should be seen as "activism", it's surrendering artistic creativity in favor of mainstream corporate approval for more funding. Basically allowing corpo swine to control what you're allowed to creatively do with your game. By pursuing their financial backing there is a general agreement to their demands and certain parameters that must be followed. I think back on the time when the OG NMRiH team announced they received publisher support for NMRiH2, and they didnt immediately announce who it was because.... SURPRISE, it was TB! The OG team most definitely wanted the resources to make their project come to life, I mean who wouldn't? Can you blame them for trying to fund their passion project?

However, at some point the artistic freedom of creation was majorly traded for financial security. So in a way, this bending of the knee should not be seen as "activism" but actually the opposite. Instead of activism, this is a blatant submission to corporate suits and the abandonment of loyal fans that gave life to the first NMRiH.

The progression of this saga is something I think many future aspiring game developers and publishers should study closely. What we are seeing in the gaming industry is textbook survivorship bias that is skewing the financial outlook of publishers and corporations. It is also disregarding crucial elements that have led to the failure of many predecessors in the gaming industry. Think about Concord or Redfall. Both Arkane Austin and Firewalk studios were shut down for their disastrous titles. The failures of predecessors are not always regarded within the data reports of current industry trends !!!

Ill end with this - if you made it this far I have respect for your intelligence, attention span, care for this franchise, and thanks to all 5 of you who read this. The release of NMRiH 1 marked a time in my life when I built my first gaming PC and was just starting high school. It was one of the first games I downloaded on Steam and my friends and I continue to have a blast playing it every once and a while. Those fond memories are what fueled this post. Now that my Hopium gas is depleted, It's clear the priorities and allegiance of this franchise now revolve around the console community. I say let them have it.

tl/dr : Unga bunga *scratches ass and sniffs fingers* OOOOhhhh UNGA BUNGA! :DSTpoop:

what exactly is the problem with the design decisions in nmrih2 that you have
You look like a trained dolphin jumpin thru all them hoops trying to dance around being a TB hater/nostalgia filled superfan of the original. There's a thread on here where somebody cobbled together a bunch of information that mythbusts this notion that the older build was significantly different from what was released. You should look it up

A debunking essay won't disprove easily obtainable info from just playing the games.

Damn, I wonder which number I am between that 5 that read far enough to catch that joke.

But anyways, yeah the game is in this weird inbetween of trying to be itself without actually being itself. Check out my review if you haven't played the game and wanna see specific, artistic integrity related talking points specific to this game and the OG.
(Hint I have 400 hours into nmrih 2, so Anyone that comes in saying I don't play the game you will be ignored.)
