If you wish to extend the date of the map, you'll need to edit the map.xml files AND the turn events files. It's quite an undertaking, but in short, you would need to do everything in the mod tools. Edit the map via map data tool, edit the turn events files via the turn events editor.
Please note, you can play after 2020, but all official maps only include pre-scripted data up to 1/2020.
