From my limited experience with the game


on the mini map, theres a few buttons on there. I would suggest playing with the border
mode so you can visually see the territories your armies are taking. I would also use the
tool that highlights your controlled hexes, to give you a better visual representations


in the options, I would suggest using unit counters or the other one, not the sprites. the sprites are nice looking but the other unit displays show more information in a much more clear manner.

the tutorial is also helpful, i'd go through that first ( its not too long )
