"Ambilight" anybody?
Hey there Team FaceRig.
J.Clockson here with a new and over the top suggestion for ...maybe one of the next updates
ooor maybe FaceRig2
...which I would totally and without having to think about it buy from you guys, by the way
(yes, you can count me in on a potential kickstarter campaign here; at least, when paypal is supported) :D

====Aaanyway...

So, I use FaceRig as a FaceCam, while recording gameplay.

~Sometimes the scenery get's really dark, like when it's night time ingame.
~Sometimes there are explosions, which brightens the screen really much.
~Sometimes the image get's blue, because of an under water section. Or red, because of this lava stream in front of me.

With a real WebCam and a monitor before your face, as the only light source, you would see those changes in light intensity on the face of the player.
In dark areas the facecam would become darker, too.
...or brighter or more blue/red (you get the point)

Would this be something FaceRig could realize?

...like taking a program window output source or monitor image as reference for light intensity or light color?
...like how ambilight does it; changing alongside the tv image

*The simple way (only light intensity and maybe color):
- every few hundred millisecs or so reading out the onscreen image/game window
(does not have to be highress, I think).
- summing up it's generell brightness and dominant color
- transfering this values to ambient light intensity/color or spotlight intensity/color of FaceRig

*The more advanced way (ambilight style)

- like 30 times in a second / in realtime reading out the onscreen image/game window
(does not have to be highress, I think).
- splitting the image in multiple parts like a one colored chess board (3 by 3 should be sufficient)
and reading out the brightness and dominant colors of those pieces
- transfering these values to corresponding spotlights in FaceRig

So? Tell me...Too over the top? xD

Thank you for your suggestion, it sounds really cool and it's very interesting, but at this moment we're swamped by other projects that need our immediate attention. However, we're gonna keep this in mind. :)

Could not wish for more.
Thank you for considering it.

And at least no "I don't get it"
...or a straight "no"
