Here's my attempt


About 1,000 years before you crashed on the planet, aliens came to the planet looking for a cure to a disease and find out that the sea emperor can produce the cure, so they imprison it and its eggs. Turns out only the babies produce the cure and they wouldn't hatch in their prison. The aliens then died from the disease which accidentally got loose on the planet. Before they died, the aliens built a gun to destroy spaceships coming too close to the planet so that the disease would not spread. The adult sea emperor produces an imperfect cure to the disease which
cannot truly cure the disease, but merely delay it. Peepers get sucked into the sea emperor's prison via the tubes, ingest the imperfect cure, and transport it back to the rest of the environment.

In the present, because the Aurora got too close to the planet, it is shot down by the alien's gun with you being the only survivor. You then get the disease yourself but meet the sea emperor in time to learn how to gain the cure. You help hatch the sea emperor's eggs and gain the cure from them.
