If it's in fullscreen wait till you can hear sound on main menu and then try pressing command f to take it out of fullscreen and then exit the game and start again to see if it works. You could also try starting the game without steam overlay just to test it out.

none of this worked. i still have a black screen but i can hear sounds

I'm sorry that none of that helped & I'm not really sure what else to suggest. I have a mac myself which seems to run Blockstorm just fine. If I come up with anything that might help I'll post it.

What i did was press cmd+option+f3 and that is when it went black if that helps
