that would ruin the game, it's a game with permadeath, i would suggest leaving it as that.

It would not ruin the game for those who are not into permadeath. It would open the game to a wider audience. Some people just want a random dungeon crawler to casually go through and don't have long blocks of time to try to finish a level all at once. Those that do like the permadeath challenge can just not use such a mod.
