with creative mode:
1. CTRL+C to copy the updated ship
2. F10 to open Blueprint menu
3. Select the BP you want to update.
4. press the button "replace with clipboard" or whatever the exact name is.
5. Upload again.

If it doesn't work, that is another issue, probably involving steam cloud saves, which is broken and needs to be turned off.

Hi, we just have to keep the very first Local Blueprint created, the one you published the first time, replace that Local Bp with the new one and redo the exact same thing you did that very first time to update the existing workshop item.

How to replace the old one for the new one =

1 - Load your world where your new ship version is + Make sure it got the exact same name so go in the ship Terminal to verify its name in the "Info" Tab and change it if needed so it can be the exact same name.

2 - Aim at it and it Ctrl+C, it will show up in your hand ready to paste.

3 - Open the Blueprint menu F10.

4 - Select the very first local Blueprint, not the Workshop one but the Local one so the one that will be on top of the search (add the name of the ship in search tool)

5 - Click the "Edit" button.

6 - Click the "Replace" button and confirm the change in the popup window asking so.

7 - Publish it, so redo the exact same thing you did that very first time to update the existing workshop item = select the Local Bp, click edit and click "Publish"

You may watch the Video Tuto in-game F1

this is the very first and not the same menu today but the same thing to update a existing item :

the issue i have is, when i ctrl-b then update ship blueprint. when i hit pubish it says failed. no matter how many times i try.

i also i notice that each time i do it, it adds a +1 to the ship name.

Ctrl + b takes a new blueprint, use ctrl + c to save to clipboard and then use replace with clpboard on the blueprint you want to update.

Edit:
You ether need to aktivate creative mode tools (alt+F10) if in survival or be in creative mode for ctrl+c to work.

You need to edit and reupload the original local blueprint (the one you used to puplish the first time)

You can also update a workshop BP with a new BP if you don't have the original any more, but that takes some extra work:

I think the "make sure your Steam user is logged in" error is unrelated to updating a blueprint. I was getting that yesterday while trying to upload a brand new blueprint-- I assume the server was just broken and trying again later might be all that's needed.

this is the very first and not the same menu today but the same thing to update a existing item :

I've run through the steps listed above, replaced the original blueprint and clicked publish. When I do that, steam creates a new workshop item instead of just updating the original blueprint.

@VONMON

Make sure the new grid got the same name of the existing Workshop item.

+

Another thing that can prevent you from updating a existing Workshop item is when we change the item name from the Workshop page = doing so prevent anymore update on that item.
