The anime skips over a lot of things and outright cuts some stuff. The visual novel is more of a slow burn though, but with reason. The visual novel shows events from Shriou's perspective and unlike the anime, you see his direct thoughts about everything. The characters in the anime were also very watered down at times. If you like fast paced things, then you probably won't like this.

Also since you mentioned the anime, I'm guessing you didn't watch the original fate stay night anime which covered the fate route. The visual novel covers that first, then moves onto ubw, then heavens Feel.

it really is a shame that most people or nearly everyone who watch the anime dont know ab fate route or skip it completely

It's mainly due it being able to spoil plot points of UBW, and Heavens Feel. And given that it's old and the animation isn't UFOtable levels of fluid, a lot of people just treat it as if it doesn't exist. Not to mention UFOtable for some reason, decided to start their adaptations with Fate Zero which the author said not to, and then skipped the Fate route and went onto UBW and then Heavens Feel for some reason.
