Has anyone ever tried creating a fake base in Kenshi?
I was wondering if it's possible to create a fake base in the game, where this base would suffer all the attacks from NPCs and conversations with factions, while the main base wouldn't receive the enemies. Has anyone tried this? Would it be possible?

If there is no one at an outpost it does not register as active and will not get raids/visits.

Not only do empty bases not attract raids, but if a raid is already on its way and you abandon one base for another, then your enemies will simply change direction and follow you there. Assuming the new location is still within their raiding range, of course - but if it isn't, then that faction wouldn't be targeting you in the first place, and so your "fake" base ends up being useless either way.

There are a few spots around the edges of the map which will never be targeted by raids at all. If you check out this thread then you should be able to work out where they are:

You can also arrange world states so that you can settle in the more central locations undisturbed. This becomes quite impossible if you take out the Bug Master, though - the Shek will consider you to be their new path to Valhalla, and will run across most of the map in order to fight you.

Thanks for the replies, I figured there could be a trigger like a food storage since that's basically what the NPCs will steal when they attack the base.

Any structure you create will register as an outpost.

It really seems like there aren't many solutions. I only see that it would be possible to wall off resources like copper and iron, and then, after obtaining iron plates and building materials, return there only when necessary. However, with farms, this isn't possible. If I could find a way to at least prevent attacks on farmers, that would be great.

I kind of made an fake base, it was an storm house used for sparing with enemies with an wall around so they could not escape if pushed trough the wall.
Should just weighted them down :) this was in HN land on the road to Orkans shield.
Guess 3-400 meter from the main gate.
Dust bandits wanted to two imprisoned skeletons to come out and fight I guess, then I noticed them I sent some out to deal with them but an HN patrol beat me to it.
Not sure that would happen if they had broken in? I guess they would freed the skeletons who then would agro them?

Hmm, I wonder if prisoners count as if the base weren't abandoned? It would be cool to leave people locked in cages attracting enemy attacks while the main base remains untouched.

Even if people are at your base, the game will hold the events until YOU, the player, center the camera back onto the base. You can even end up with multiple events (raids, traders) happening at once, if you allow them to back-up, then bring your focus/camera back to the base.

Yes, that's what I'm getting at. Maybe if I leave one of my generic NPCs in the fake base to attract the attack events, I wouldn't have a problem sacrificing it. Of course, not to kill it, but I would just put food in its inventory and leave it there, and when the attack started I would just remove it from that base, while the production of the other base remains intact. I just wanted to understand if there's a way to attract them to a specific base.

Yes, the training base was loaded into game,it was many hundreds of meter away so people at my base should not run to help the ones fighting.

And one thing happen off camera, your group member getting chased.
This has to be simulated somehow, probably pretty simply but no idea how, you getting close to an spawn point? But sure you can also run into roaming units but this could be random events for off camera groups based on locations?

Else its pretty much like Bethesda games Oblivion to Fallout 4. Nothing happens outside the loaded cell with a very few exceptions, if you exit an load door enemies will follow you at least in Oblivion and Fallout 4, know they don't in Skyrim.
This was simply because Skyrim was extremely memory restrained on consoles.
Crisis you now have 13 enemies in action so PS3 ran out of its 256 mb of ram and crashed.
Also an major FO-NV issue. But yes nothing outside active cells get attacked.

Yes, if you build several bases in the same loaded chunk, the AI can get confused and sends the attack to another base. If you set your main base in the middle and make a ring of fake bases around it you will reduce the chances they will come you your main. NPC always attack the closest one.

You just have to make sure they are far enough apart not to merge into one base.

i often send runners back to the old base to pickup things i forgot, my guy gets there and the base is full of skeleton bandits with five of them manning my turrets. i never seen that before.

This works for "scheduled" raids, like Bandit Demands and Prayer Day, but not for unscheduled Base Attack raids, like the constant Hungry Bandit groups that'll assault you around the Border Zone. So a fledging group of farmers can still get beaten up.

Still, I think this should do the trick:

If you recruit a skeleton and put him in a cage, then that'll count as a populated base, no enemies will try to attack him in there, and he won't ever starve.

You'd want to set up at least two "cage" bases, one on either side of your main, but don't overdo it. Each one will keep a map cell loaded, and you've only got so much RAM to work with.

Raids seem target the exact center of your base, you can try make that center unreachable (you right click on it and you characters doesn't move) raiders will stop moving and wait until they are dealt with.
