You can also learn how to perform these tricks and some skips by watching top replays. Go to community, ranking, beton brutal tabs and press on the eye icon to watch any replay you like. This way you can learn the fastest route to complete any map.
About practice maps, there are no specific ladder-focused maps I can think of, but you can try my super simple map designed for beginners - UNTITLED BRUTAL. You can get it through community tab - custom maps, by searching its name and changing the map tabs at the top, or you can subscribe to any map in the Steam Workshop.
Another super interesting exploration 'open-world' map is NO ESCAPE. It contains ladders and repetitive patterns of jumps to practice.
You can also create your own ladder practice setup in the in-game map editor, if it is possible. You can check other maps by me, as they are all mostly designed for beginners and of a very accessible difficulty.
I would love to help you, if you have any more questions. Feel free to keep asking here!
BETON BRUTAL main map is all about the most fundamental mechanics of the game, though it is definetely not the easiest challenge for new players. But if you succeed in beating it, you will be able to progress through other maps without much difficulty.
You could have noticed that blue level introduces thin platforms and ladder parkour, yellow level is about the S-SPACE-W ladder jumps, trampoline setups and shortcuts locating and red level is about complex ladder variations and setups. It allows you to get acquainted with such gimmicks of mechanics such as 'keep-sprint' and 'ladder jump-boost'. It is important to understand how all this stuff works in order to do progress.
So yeah, practice mode is always a great choice. Note, that you can also place checkpoints while in practice. You have to place start and finish point, and you'll be able to quickly restart from any wanted spot via R button.
Don't be shy to post your progress with screenshots or here, in the discussion if you'll face some problems with anything.
Yeah, I understand that spiral ladders are indeed super unintuitive. But you'll get used to them if you don't give up. I managed to beat the base map more than 2 years ago now, and I remember how thrilled and stressed out I was. I was freaking out when I saw the spiral ladders for the first time.
In UNTITLED BRUTAL, spiral ladders are not showcased enough to get perfect, but they are good enough to practice safely and understand how the physics and limits work without any danger to lose progress.
I will search more maps for you, that could help to focus on spiral ladders more precisely.
You have encountered a so-called 'horror event'. It happens when your stress level (vertigo) stays high for a long time. It is better to have a rest from time to time and not to look down too often.
P.S. You can turn all the high-vertigo events and vertigo counter completely in the in-game settings. This would allow you to focus more on the parkour, but will damage the horror atmosphere of the game.
