I don't see it as cheating, it's just another automation tool, like hiring AI workers.
Cheers,
Chris.
But, after spending all that time half loading a trailer and then have everything jiggle itself into collapsing off the trailer.... waaaay too many times...
yes, I now use autoload.
PS: I am now spoiled so even if that was fixed...I would probably still use it for large loads
When a kid uses a plastic bucket to fill his toy dump truck instead of his toy wheel loader, is he cheating? -farm sim zen
Myself, I kinda do a bit of each and variations of it. I will use an autoload bale trailer for a big field of bales, but I might manually feed them to the animals. (maybe with an autoload bale fork)
Autoloading in competitive bale loading (that's a thing actually) = cheating
Autoloading in your own sandbox = often sanity preserving
Only thing you should worry about is enjoyment.
By "cheating" i mean using a mod that skips a portion of the game that was intended in the design. Using mods to load your bank account with money is cheating in my eyes, and I wont do it, but also stuff like autoload felt like cheating to me since you axe out all the forklift gameplay, and all the associated purchases.
That is a personal view, I dont judge people on how they play their singleplayer game
That said, if there was a mod to autoload with a hefty monetary cost, like hiring workers, I would be tempted
That´s the main factor, you say it´s a good portion of the game, others find this fiddling around with the forklifts and telehandlers combined with the randomly funny physics is just too much and boring and would say it´s a bad portion of the game, waste of time.
Others can´t even do these jobs, there is a difference seeing "true" 3d in real life and getting 3d displayed on a monitor, there are people out there that simply don´t get a feel for high and depth when it´s just on a screen.
In the end it´s still a non competitive sandbox where superstrength solves more problems then autoload :P
The design is just there cause in the old days of fs some people asked if the tiny jobs could also be implented. It´s not that giants originally wanted you to do all this, some people just liked these jobs and asked for those to be added.
Not even a mod that can generate money to your farming Bank Account is a cheat, when a buggy Mission Farmer want pay you for a done Job!
I have settled for kind of a middle ground, I still use a loader to lift the bale onto the trailer, but I let the autoloader stack it precisely.
Is that done with an "autoload" trailer, as opposed to Universal Autload?
As others mentioned; it's a single player game so who cares what other players do or think. You paid for it. Play it the way you want to get the most enjoyment you can out of it.
Anyone who's actually grown up on a real farm knows that even with every realism setting turned on in the game that there's still about a thousand ways the game is "cheating" just to be playable, much less something to be enjoyed. Farming and ranching is a hard job, not a frolic in the meadow with unicorns and puppies.
Find your own comfort spot that makes the game something you want to keep playing, and get rid of the parts that make you want to stop. That's why the biggest draw to this game is its modability.
