Autoload trailers - cheating?
I know this is a question of taste and if you play with autoload trailers and enjoy them, then all the power to you. That said I was wondering what people think of this. Do you find those autoload trailer mods to be cheaty? I was tempted to try them, but it seems like such a mod would make forklift and telehandlers 100% useless, removing a good portion of the game.

I use them all the time, but I also do some manual work each in-game month. I see it this way, I want to play a farming simulator, not a forklift simulator (and I suck at forklift loading). By doing some manual work each month, I get my taste of "realism", then I can get on with all the other jobs.... :-)

I don't see it as cheating, it's just another automation tool, like hiring AI workers.

Cheers,
Chris.

Depends on the mood - sometimes I start and finish a playthrough with no autoload whatsoever - usually small farms. Other times I just autoload everything especially on bigger farms. I play single player so I affect no one else - do what entertains you is my philosophy :-)

If the physics of stacking boxes worked ingame, I would never use Autoload....
But, after spending all that time half loading a trailer and then have everything jiggle itself into collapsing off the trailer.... waaaay too many times...
yes, I now use autoload.
PS: I am now spoiled so even if that was fixed...I would probably still use it for large loads

Still trying to figure out how you can cheat in your single player game. I did not know farming is now a pvp game genre. I guess I'll have to load up on my auto gps mods to level the farming field. I of course use it. I guess Courseplay is also a no no in gaming as well.

I think cheating depends on what you're trying to gain by cheating. The game has no winning end game save for what you create for yourself.

When a kid uses a plastic bucket to fill his toy dump truck instead of his toy wheel loader, is he cheating? -farm sim zen

Myself, I kinda do a bit of each and variations of it. I will use an autoload bale trailer for a big field of bales, but I might manually feed them to the animals. (maybe with an autoload bale fork)

Autoloading in competitive bale loading (that's a thing actually) = cheating
Autoloading in your own sandbox = often sanity preserving

Cheating WHO? If this is single player, then "cheating" is not a thing.
Only thing you should worry about is enjoyment.

Lots of good replies here.

By "cheating" i mean using a mod that skips a portion of the game that was intended in the design. Using mods to load your bank account with money is cheating in my eyes, and I wont do it, but also stuff like autoload felt like cheating to me since you axe out all the forklift gameplay, and all the associated purchases.

That is a personal view, I dont judge people on how they play their singleplayer game

That said, if there was a mod to autoload with a hefty monetary cost, like hiring workers, I would be tempted

I always wonder where these questions come from...

...removing a good portion of the game.

That´s the main factor, you say it´s a good portion of the game, others find this fiddling around with the forklifts and telehandlers combined with the randomly funny physics is just too much and boring and would say it´s a bad portion of the game, waste of time.

Others can´t even do these jobs, there is a difference seeing "true" 3d in real life and getting 3d displayed on a monitor, there are people out there that simply don´t get a feel for high and depth when it´s just on a screen.

In the end it´s still a non competitive sandbox where superstrength solves more problems then autoload :P

The design is just there cause in the old days of fs some people asked if the tiny jobs could also be implented. It´s not that giants originally wanted you to do all this, some people just liked these jobs and asked for those to be added.

I use autoload, courseplay, superstrength, remove everything mod etc... Just because sometimes the game physics force you to use this mods. Bale stacking with telehandler or frontloader on a 500acr field is a pain in the ass. Allways stuckin tractors or rigs on to tight designed maps could vanish the fun and enjoying of the game. With the mods i can fix most of the ingame issues fast and satisfying. Thats not cheating!
Not even a mod that can generate money to your farming Bank Account is a cheat, when a buggy Mission Farmer want pay you for a done Job!

IMHO, this is a simplification of a toxic part of the gameplay. Just remove a couple hundred small square bales from the field.

Doesn't really matter, you're not hurting anyone by it and stacking bales can be annoying.
I have settled for kind of a middle ground, I still use a loader to lift the bale onto the trailer, but I let the autoloader stack it precisely.

Is that done with an "autoload" trailer, as opposed to Universal Autload?

An autoloader trailer, I find that the universal autoload is just not that space efficent, like on my current autoload trailer I can fit 24 square bales, and if I switched it to use universal autoload it would stack like 6 at best
A good compromise is to forklift pallets over to the autoloader. This way, you get both to drive the equipment and optimized stacking.

If you feel that a mod or a setting is taking away part of your personal enjoyment of the game then don't use it. It's just as relevant as using a mod or a setting to take away a part of the game that you don't like. Everyone has their own level of enjoyment and the tools to reach that.

As others mentioned; it's a single player game so who cares what other players do or think. You paid for it. Play it the way you want to get the most enjoyment you can out of it.

Anyone who's actually grown up on a real farm knows that even with every realism setting turned on in the game that there's still about a thousand ways the game is "cheating" just to be playable, much less something to be enjoyed. Farming and ranching is a hard job, not a frolic in the meadow with unicorns and puppies.

Find your own comfort spot that makes the game something you want to keep playing, and get rid of the parts that make you want to stop. That's why the biggest draw to this game is its modability.
