Have you tried going into your options, you might have an option set to really high fps usage.

This is happening to me on GeForce videos. No lag on Radeons. I guess that's the way old DirectX is.

Maybe it is the screen resolution, then? Mine is 2560x1600 on a 30 inch monitor. Maybe old DirectX was not supposed to be run at such high res?

1. Hold down the Windows Key and press R
2. The Run dialog should appear. Type dxdiag in the available text field.
3. Click OK
4. Click Save All Information
5. Set the Save as type to Text File (*.txt)
6. Save the file DxDiag.txt to your Desktop so it is easy to find.
7. Attach the DXdiag.txt file in an email to support@team17.com

It may also be worth ensuring your drivers are up to date:

1. Go to http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx
2. Install ‘AMD Driver Autodetect’ application.
3. Select yes on to allow application to run if prompt appears.
4. Select ‘Download Now’ and follow the steps to install the driver.
5. Restart your computer, if necessary after installation of drivers.

I have the same kind of problem, the loading screen (team 17 screen) freeze for nearly a minute before the game start, I get lag in the main menu for the first minute or so, after that it goes away, but all option in the main menu take a long time to activate when I click on it. When in a game with friend I get an incredible amount of lag ( more like stutering ) everytime a turn end and when someone teleport. that kinda make the game a pain to play. I got a good rig ( i7 3820 @ 3.6 ghz, gtx 680 FTW with the 306.97 driver and 16g of ram on windows 7) this game should not be a problem at all.

After some testing I managed to fix my problem, updating driver and wathnot did not help so i uninstalled the game and reinstalled it on my system hdd ( my computer got 3 hdd, 1 for windows, 1 for my games and one partitioned in two for various stuff) and The stutering and lag stoped altogether, so I tried installing the game on all my other hdd, even an external usb 3.0 one and everytime the lag and stutering came right back. Only when installed on my windows hdd ( main system drive ) did the game started working like it should. dunno why but if you got the same problem, maybe its worth a try.

I have copied my disk onto another and it would not boot, so I ran System File Check using the Windows 7 DVD "Repair" mode. So I reckon it replaced the driver with original Microsoft so there is no lag whatsoever. But I don't play modern game so it works for me.

This solution fixed the annoying lag I had as well, on this game and Worms Ultimate Mayhem.

It seems like the newer worms games on steam doesn't play well when not on the system disk so placing them in another steam library (another harddrive) may cause lag issues.


Probably due to some env variable being used that leads the game to the wrong location but this is only speculation.

This game has major HDD access issues. I've never owned a game that causes so much hard drive activity. In addition, the graphic options are off. Who has a 59mhz monitor setting? The game is just poorly optimized.

I had two graphic cards and I was running this game in RAID0 on two SSD's. I removed one graphic card and put the game on a regular HDD and now it loads like molasses. 3mins to load. File check is also extremely slow. My larger games load faster. A game like this should load in under 1min. Doesn't for me. Pure junk.

I have the same problem! I've tried to do everything and I can't solve it. I've tried to change the local.cfg and nothing happens. I switched to the Windows all-compartment mode and also nothing. And it's just the game at 1 fps and I can't click on anything.
