Is smoking meat inherently better than baking it?
Baking it gives you more water from eating it, but at the same time, baking appears to reduce the percentage of the food, giving you less bites of it, which is incredibly counter productive and makes the extra water pointless. But smoking food does not seem to do this, and the percentage of it stays the same upon it becoming dried.

So, my question is, does this mean that it's always better to smoke food than to bake it?

P.S. I'm aware that boiling gives you even more water, and also does not reduce the food's percentage, so that also appears to always be better than baking.

I think smoking makes it last longer before spoiling, at the expense of some calories/hydration when it is eaten.

Did you read the whole thread? Baking seems to remove some bites from the food, while smoking does not, which renders the extra energy and hydration pointless.
