Play as a nation
Am I the only person who would love to play as a nation?
Of course, you can turn off AI and then kind of control it yourself but there are key features missing for a play-a-nation-yourself playstyle.

In my opinion, Ages of Conflict is just the perfect mix between being not too simple like territorial.io and not being too complicated like Hearts of Iron.
Thats why Ages of Conflict is even fun for Strategy fans who (like me) like it a bit simpler but not too much. So why not make a mode where you can play a nation?

and one last thing: I would like to be able to remove the different terrains (mountains, waters, etc) seperately with one click. So you have a button to remove all mountains at once for example

Not quite the purpose of the game, it's goal is to simulate the wars between nations, not let you control the inner workings of said nation. If you want that type of game, go for HOI4, CK3, VIC3, and any number of other strategy based games.

The one doesnt exclude the other. It is optional to play as a Nation. There can be both at once. And I already said, why I think this fits better in this game than in other strategy games. You should read my post too before commenting.

thankfully the dev is dead set on his vision for the game, so continuing to beg for unneeded crap like this is basically useless

yk there are people who can answer this normally like Mrastron and there are people like you who just siht talk posts like this and are toxic. If you dont want this, dont read it. Simple as that.
