Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Collection

Guys, I might have figured out how to extract the soundtracks from the game...
Here's how you do it:

http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/showpost.php?p=2818409&postcount=9

Follow exactly the instructions that have been given on there, BUT, when you're about to extract the soundtracks from the game using "Extractor", point to this file instead:
X:\Steam\steamapps\common\Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed\Data\sound\StreamsMulti.pck
(where "X:\" is whichever drive you have Steam on)

EDIT: You'll notice that the seeker won't work on players like Winamp while playing the music. If you have this problem, you can fix them using ReVorb here:
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t64328.html

I've tested this, and I can confirm that this works! It's literally the exact same method used for extracting music from Borderlands 2! How 'bout that, eh? XD

Of course, I'll definitely still be buying the official soundtrack if SEGA does intend to release that sometime soon. This is just something that you guys can do if you're just curious to see how the different sections of the ingame music are divided. As S0L has explained before in an earlier thread...
引用自 S0L
That's built out of multiple short sections with a set of 'transformation' bridges. This allows us to dynamically change the music on the fly, but the game expects each track to run to a given BPM (which is hardcoded) to be able to do this seamlessly. So you'd have to make sure whatever you exchanged the music for had the same BPM, had the same 'transform' bridges in place (with the right lengths) and have multiple pieces for any given track to deal with land, air and water signature tunes.

Also, I'm not sure if it's illegal to post extraction methods like this in here, but if it is, feel free to take it down ASAP. :v

EDIT: Checking the extracted files right now. Oh man, S0L wasn't kidding when he said that, the music's literally divided into many MANY sections and all of them are scattered everywhere throughout. You'd have to dedicate some leisure time hunting down the appropriate sections and piecing them together if you wanna grab the soundtrack off of this. :v

The voices are in there aswell.

Not so sure about the others though.
In the meantime though, it might be interesting to try and listen to these files first:

StreamsMulti 01031 + StreamsMulti 02428
This seems to be an alternate version of the loading screen music...

StreamsMulti 00787
StreamsMulti 01316
StreamsMulti 02342
StreamsMulti 02368
StreamsMulti 02808

These are all victory themes, but I've never even heard them in the game before...

And lastly...
StreamsMulti 02759
I'm not sure what music this is a remix of, but one thing's for sure, I've never heard this anywhere in the game. :u

Very intruiging~...

Nice find.

edit: Shame about the tracking not working though, but these songs seems to have infinite looping so that's cool though.

I haven't heard them through this method, but i'll venture a guess; the alternate load screen music does play in game...for all of two seconds. It plays during the transition from the menu to the loading screen. If the loading screen fails to load, the music will continue playing, which happens to be about 20 seconds long before it loops.

It's probably similar; it's my understanding that Gearbox worked on Samba de Amigo and Aliens. It's entirely possible that Sumo looked at the way these games were built and used them as a model for their own titles. Either that or it's just an industry standard or something.

yeah... herd of "Copyright Infringement" not the best place to be posting this, and because you or the public dont have "exclusive rights" to the content, i would suggest deleting this post so others aint encourged to break the law aswell.

Shouldn't we have the right to listen to the music though, since we bought the game? As long as we aren't leaking anything we shouldn't get in trouble.

Finally got this to work with some struggling. I've always liked poking around in a game's audio files...

02759 is Casino Park, lifted straight from Sonic Heroes (albeit shortened) and used for Roulette Road. I don't believe the first four bars are used in this game (they weren't in the previous S&SASR either).

Have you told this to the several people who have published game soundtracks all over YouTube; including those that have posted this very game's music? If Sega or Sumo had an issue with this, don't you think they'd be a little faster/harder about stopping people from doing it?

Until someone furnishes documents that say otherwise, I see no problem with this. Furthermore nothing is actually being displayed or used without permission. To infringe copyright would mean you would take the music without permission and use it for something it was not created for without crediting the owner of the music. What we have here are instructions for people to rip the music out of their game for their own personal enjoyment. So long as it's not sold or reused without permission, there's no infringment. There's also the fact that in order to do this, you still have to pay for the game so it's not theft either unless someone tries to sell the music without permission.

Now it would be a completely different matter if someone was trying to rip the music, then pass it off as their own, but that's not what's happening here. The community is very fond of the music and is simply giving themselves a means to enjoy it without having to go through the game to listen to it.

Personally, if I composed the music, i'd be more than ok with it so long as someone isn't selling it without my knowledge. It means people appreciate my work enough to do it and furthermore it's free advertising for the work in question.

Cool, some all-star music are way longer than heared in-game

Most, if not all, of the tracks that inspired the All-Star musics are far longer. Example: Beat plays Grace & Glory for his All-Star. The specific snippet of his All-Star theme doesn't even start until about forty seconds into the track, and the full Grace & Glory track is about three-and-a-half minutes.

Of course there's an obvious reason why the tracks might be a bit longer, All-Stars only last about ten seconds, I think the only ones you can actually hear the entirety of (excluding FBM and Danica; original works) in-game are Sonic and Tails because their loops are a little shorter than the alloted time (in Ralph's case, the theme has to start a bit late).

There's a YouTube video I found that plays them all, some do go a bit longer than others (note: the uploading party forgot Gum's theme):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhbI-xzmVzk

It just occured to me, that theme that you couldn't place, is it possible that they left the Xbox360 Avatar's All-Star theme in this version of the game?

Copyright infringement is the unauthorized use of works under copyright, infringing the copyright holder's "exclusive rights", such as the right to reproduce, distribute, display or perform the copyrighted work, spread the information contained within copyrighted works, or to make derivative works. It often refers to copying "intellectual property" without written permission from the copyright holder, which is typically a publisher or other business representing or assigned by the work's creator. so yeah you're breaking the law, but do what you want im not here to slap you on your hand. just be wise how you choose to spread this info.

From a moralic pov of what i assume to be someone loving the blood, sweat, tears and passion poured into the game with incredible result, and knowing they could possibly release the ost in the future, this is kind of working against them. Take that as you will i guess

Game OST releases are usually remastered to better suit listening without any background noise; this allows for a greater dynamic range and better sounding lows/highs, with proper transition between the different segments of various stage BGM. I'm sure Richard Jacques would want his work to be listened to in all its glory if it were to be released as separate content.
