I high recomend play it on any usb controller, even the cheaper must work on it after config it. about the bug If you play it on keyboard you can try change the direction keys for WASD unstead of use the arrows becouse you need to press many keys at same time: Left or right+ break/drift+ gas I known it can be simple but I already had similar problems with some games.

I had the same problem on controller where it only accepted either gas or brake one at a time, not both for drifting. The fix for me was using controller settings (right side of the game's library page while controller's connected), and setting the buttons to act like keyboard presses (default: shift for RT/R2/gas, space for LT/L2/brakes). If it doesn't show up, go to Steam (top left) -> Settings -> Controller, and turn on all the Steam Input settings. If it still doesn't work you might have to change inputs to keyboard keys in the Configure launch option and then rebind the controller to those, but it's confusing and inconsistent in there.
