I just found a game online a couple hours back and there was zero lag and it just worked. I was really surprised. Bad news was that I had the air assist on with the line and when I went into a cave, cause the line was above that, it kept forcing me into the ceiling and I couldn't move the kart at all (it was obviously trying to get to the guidance line above the cave) - I didn't even remember this setting and had no idea what was going on till I investigated after, as i hadn't played the game since 2022.

In any case, I had a lot of fun getting this one to work smoothly on a modern high refresh panel (unlike the OG all stars which works at 144 like a treat in 4K).

I had to disregard what PCGAMINGWIKI said as everything they claim was the exact opposite for me. The only thing I have NOT tried is DXVK.

Basically, at 144hz refresh rate or even 120, so I presume this applies to even higher refresh rates also, do NOT enable vsync in your GPU control panel. Do NOT run it in windowed or borderless mode, as this is where the main issue occurs.
If you do that, the game WILL run at your monitor's refresh rate, but with incredibly bad judder/frame pacing that can not be corrected (and RTSS doesn't help either).

If you want the game to "just work".

ENABLE the vsync in the game config, no matter your refresh rate, the game will lock to a perfect 60 fps. It will be more like 55 if you use alternative vsync lock methods.

More importantly, the game plays flawlessly and smooth as silk with this setting. No jokes.

Yes, 120 and 200 etc fps would be nice, but this really does "just work" and it stays at a locked 60 without a drop or judder. At max settings and native 4K, exclusive full screen (remember, exclusive FS is sadly paramount for this game), it's using about 10% GPU of a 4090m, so think 4070 ti desktop. So even a 3060 should be able to run it at 4K 60.

Now, with online working so well (which floored me to be honest, I was so surprised, and I am on wi-fi and it was like butter smooth), it's time we all start meeting again for this fabulous one of a kind kart racer that for me at least, is the best kart racer of all time (With Crossworlds a close second. I just prefer the feeling of speed and the way Transformed handles).
