Sonic 1, 2, CD and 3&K were de-listed right before the release of Origins which were remasters of those games. Sonic Generations was partially de-listed (now part of the Legacy bundle) shortly before Sonic X Shadow Generations released.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds isn't a remake or remaster of the previous games. At most, there will likely be tracks from those games like how both this and Team Sonic Racing featured tracks from the first game. But I don't see that being reason enough for SEGA to de-list this or the first game from Steam anytime soon.
I don't want to see it delisted either, but it is a striking coincidence that the only Sonic games that didn't get put on sale for this sale (mind you, one of the big Steam sales) are the racing titles, Sonic Generations wasn't on sale for the whole year of 2024 until its eventual delisting in September, doesn't have to mean anything yet, but if the games aren't going on sale in the Summer, get ready for them to be gone from sale by the end of this year.
I don't think they will. Also if they get desisted then that means no more new people coming in when there's already very few newcomers. They'll also probably shut the servers down. This game still has a pretty active online community with people racing every day. I just want this game to live on. It's my favorite Kart Racer of all time and deserves to be preserved and played into the future.
They'e delisting this and the other games so that your only option for a Sonic Kart Racer is the overpriced one.
It’s simpler than that. It’s not on sale cause a new game is releasing.
So they want the playerbase to be focused on the new game instead.
If you want the older games on sale then you’ll have to wait until after Crossworlds releases
This isn’t even just a Sega thing, multiple series do this. Especially with remasters, where the original either goes on a price increase or sales amount decreases. Dead Space 1 costs more than the other two even on sale, and Dead Rising’s original version stopped going on sale when the new one was coming
They're getting delisted, Generations didn't get a sale for about 9mo before delisting, even with multiple big Steam sales falling in that time period.
