Someone posted the other day that they fixed that by limiting the frame rate.

Normally you could do that by enabling V-Sync in the game settings, but that's not an option if the game won't run. You can go into your video card drivers and try forcing V-Sync on or limiting the frame rate there. Or maybe try connecting your computer to a screen that is limited to 60 Hz (Maybe a TV?), as mentioned in the post linked above.

If that doesn't help, I don't know what else to suggest. A lot of people have posted with that error and I don't know of a confirmed fix.

Glad to hear it. I guess that's one possible fix for the people getting that D3D device error. It hadn't occurred to me that that might also be a frame rate problem.
