Honestly, "high end pc" may be the problem. This game does not like high frame rates. One fix is to enable V-Sync. The post below has more info:

Another fix that has worked for some is to go into your video card drivers and limit the frame rate there.

Setting your pc to Windows 7 compatibility mode will fix the crashing. However I ran into collision issues. Running old games with higher frame rates tends to cause collision issues. I couldn't get robbin to walk up a metal wall. Do what waste recommend and enable vsync. That fixed my collision issues.

You have to limit the fps to 60. Vsync didn’t do that for me, so I had to go into the the nvidia control panel and change the framelimit for this game
