Are there crash logs? They'd be in C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Local\Rocket Bear Games\Infested Planet
If you can find any, send them to support@rocketbeargames.com
I'd like to help, but I can't do that if you don't send me crash info.
I'm going to merge both of the the topics, since they're about a single issue.
The folder might be hidden on your PC. It doesn't matter where Steam is - the game makes a different folder for player data.
Try entering %LOCALAPPDATA% into the windows explorer path bar.

Sometimes if the game crashes due to driver errors, there isn't a crash log.
I would try to update all of your drivers. Video and audio drivers are the key here. Chances are if the game is crashing for you and nobody else, it's something PC-specific.
Also, I'm assuming that other games aren't crashing? If your PC is overheating, that could easily cause crashes.
I'd still update them. Drivers that come with a new computer could still be a few months old.
Crashing in the middle of a mission is still very annoying, especially if you lose progress.
Sorry that I can't be more helpful. Without a crash log I can only guess what could be happening. Most of the time it's video drivers - Intel video cards specifically are the devil.
