arent u using the cards that u have in deck so u can plan for the turn based combat ahead?
In both games you make a deck containing 30 Creatures/spells/buildings, but in Poxnora you begin the game with only a few Rune ("cards") revealed, I think it's 7, and each turn another random rune is revealed ( there are some runes and abilites that can reveal more runes). Also, once you use a Rune it will go into a cooldown bar wich indicates in how many turn you will be able to play it again. PoxNora is turn based instead of Real-time and uses single units and not battalions. Whatsmore, you have daily quests that can give you a good amount of money per day to buy rune packs.
About progression: The game uses a quite intresting sistem of progression: Upon creating a new account you will ahve your options limited to only tutorials, soon you will unlock a progression tree wich indicates what should be your next learning experience ( be it wining a campaign or fighting a pvp combat) and will give you a reward for doing so. Also, when you win a match with a deck you will be rewarded a random rune from the faction that you used in the deck. The rune can be from ANY rarity.
The game have thousands of runes and each deck may consists of a full 30 rune factions a split deck with up to 15 per faction rune. You get bonus for having 15 and 30( split or full faction) decks, wicha are totaly different for each of the 8 factions.
PoxNora is older than BattleForge (around 8 years old, if memory serves me right), but only in 2014 it reached Steam. It does have some bugs right now, like music fading in and out, but the devs have showed interest in improving the game experience, though it will be a slow progress in the near future ( if you are interst just type "Q&A in the search discussion to see the most recent one about the game actual state)
Some "problems" if you may: The market function is not present in-game ( take this with a bit of salt, I do belive that completing every learning "quest" may unlock it in the client but I'm not sure), you can only manage your runes in the website, like acessing the market ( again I can't confirm this).
All in all the game is way more complex than BF ever was. Each unit can have a ton of passive abilites plux some nasty 3-4 diferent active ones wich interact with every kind of game mechanic. If you like complex gameplay, it will be a blast. If not, it may put you out in the first few hours that takes to know the basic passive/actives and synergy.
Also is worth mentioning that you get a basic deck for each faction for free once you bet there respective tutorials, although they cannot be modified, not counting as individual runes but as One deck ( like the tutorial deck in BF but useful).
Unfortunualy it's not very close to BF ( God, I wish that existes a game wich is like BF) but may apeal to you. Should give it a try.
