Poxbox.net (Trades) - Personally I hate dealing with trading and am happy to use forge semi-exclusively but some like it and if your willing to I think the value you get for your cards is probably a bit better here (vs sacrificing for shards at the forge)

For Newbies on how F2P grind it -

There are several solid to excellent beginner guides out there and if there's interest I'll link them but if your not willing to read up on the game before try it (understandable) just skim the headings here for some quick pointers.

Complete Tutorials for Starter Decks -

You can complete the tutorial challenges for free Runes (Essentially just Cards if your new here btw) and a deck for each of the 8 factions.

Complete Quests for Gold -

The way I have been acquiring Runes is by first acquiring gold through completing some or all of the Daily Quests Most Days and then working toward the Legendary Quests (right click on the right dot below where the daily quests are shown on the startpage to see these) when able (You won't always be able to as they often require specific kinds of cards that new collections will be lacking). You get small amounts of Gold for winning games and some for completing so many games PVP as well but those are going to take a bit longer than just focusing on trying to grind out the Quest gold while your getting started.

How to spend Gold best?

That's debatable actually but since this is a quick quide....

Buy Prebuilt Decks

There are prebuilt battlegroups (just card decks) available for ingame currency on the market tab and a good way to expand on your collection quickly.

I have been using the Dancers in the Snow Battle Group as my go too buy it and then sac all of the cards at the forge for shards option at the current moment. I believe it's the best rune shard value of those currently availble but it's at least a very good value and a good jumping off point for building your collection. If you decide to stick around I think you get more bang for your buck with the card trader (Poxbox.net) and you will want to check for yourself eventually.
