You didn't mention the combat system. I have thousands of hours in Civ5, Age of Wonders 3, Divinity; OS, this game is just as entertaining and really tough at times.
I kinda get the feeling the devs are gone. Shame.
i think Pox can´t be compared with Games you mentioned - and i really like the Civ Series from the Beginning but for me --> i cant see similarities to Pox
I mentioned these only in that they are turn base combat.
So, the developers are in fact gone and have been. The original developers sold the game to Square Enix's online division which ran it into the ground with heavy emphasis on Legendary Mid Term Packs which added unique "talents" to the game. Around the time, a player named TinyDragon was sporting almost an entire deck made of these at one point until Square sold off the rights to the previous owners under a new name. I believe it was Desert Owl games. They unfortunately couldn't maintain balance due to all these card changes, produced 3 full expansions; another handful of Mid-Term legendaries, and then focused on reskinned cards with alternate art. This was almost 3 years ago.
The fact the game is still online amazes me, but it used to be a really amazing game. I loved running Drunken Dwarf, Archer's Arrays, and even for a time BogHopper Beatdown.
