is this owned by same company from what 10 or 12 years ago?
I frankly don't remember the year but I remember at one point buying a $50 package for this game way before it was on steam. Anyway to recover that account if I don't remember it and link it to steam? Is this game owned by the same company or has it changed hands once or twice or thrice?

Octopi until 2009, SOE until 2014, now Desert Owl Games. Accounts from SOE were transitioned, but it was a little... weird. Either way, you can try the help on the main site—you don't need to be logged in to make in inquiry.
