Yeah, it isn't the best system because the player count is low. Try asking in general chat if someone would be willing to join your training match. I don't think it has to be a fellow newb. I had a veteran join mine.. I think he left his computer so I could take the win.

I've had a friend helping me along and he could never join my game.

edit: nevermind, it works, just not very popular and took forever to get into a game.
