Connection issues, no join button online but can see games
Hey there,

My friend and I have been trying to connect to each others internet games, but we've been running into a problem I haven't seen before. We can see the games, we can click on them and see the characters in them, but neither of us are getting the big red 'Join' button. We can both join other people's games, and neither of us are getting any sort of error, no broadcasted NAT-detect problems. Have any of you run into this problem before, or know of any solutions? This may be a fairly basic problem that I just can't find a fix for.

are you playing the modded version of the game? from what i heard correct me if i am wrong, you need the same mods as your friend

We are modded, but we both have the exact same mod installed (just Syngergies).

If anyone else gets this issue, all you have to do is click the wrench in the top left for install mods and reset. Even if you manually installed all the mods before hand. The reset itself seemed to fix the problem

We have fixed this issue with using the same game language: English. Before that we used different languages...

I am having the same problem, but we've done the reset and manual installation of mods. And it still will not work.

Having this same problem, but after clicking the "reset and install mods" button, we appear offline to each other.

That is to say, my friend's name only appears when I have the "show offline" box marked and this we can't even find each others' game.

I had the same issue but none of the mentioned solutions worked for me. Here what I did to fix the issue:

I launched the game in mod mode (with my mod selected). I searched for a public game that used a mod which I have not installed or selected. After selecting that game I clicked on the little wrench icon at the top (this only appears if you try to join a game that uses a mod which you have not selected or installed). After that Torghtlight will quit and install the mod. Open Torchlight again. Then I looked up my frieds game and clicked on the little wrench icon at the top. After that Torchlight restarted itself and I was able to join the game. This fixed the issue for me.

Super late to the party, had the same issue just now, basically made sure that the mods are EXACTLY the same by copying from one pc to another and then made sure that the Mod List is the same. This was my issue, the mod list on my pc vs my wife's pc was not in the same order. Got it working now, so hope this helps someone trying to play the game in 2025.
