Drops
99% of the unique items that drop are for any class but but mine. Why does this even happen? I will say it's quite annoying when you identify a unique only to be let down.

I think they considered that a lot of players might like to play more than one character. Some of the developers were on the Diablo team in the early days, and if I recall correctly, Diablo does the same thing. Some of the developers also came from the FATE games and FATE does the same, as well. It doesn't work like an MMO. There are a lot of drops and they are mostly random.

Yeah but seriously 99% is just ridiculous enough to make me not want to play anymore. 43hrs on Berserker and 1 drop for my class. Shortly after making this post I got a drop for an engineer... again.

Check frequently with the merchant in town. It's really important to do this for your first character.

Check the potions merchant for tags and collars for your pet. Check the blacksmith for weapons and armor. Rings and Necklaces can only be gotten from drops, and tend to fall more often if you level up your focus stat. You also tend to get more elemental embers dropping if you have a higher focus stat.

Try to keep your elemental resistances at or higher than your pet's elemental resistances.

Ah, well . . . Usually, if I'm on my first character for a brand new set of mods I will mostly get blue weapons and gear. I won't get very many gold (Unique) weapons. I won't get all of the set pieces I want, either. On my second character, I'll use the gear and weapons that I've stored from my first character (if they work for my new character) and improve those and keep trying to find more set pieces. I use a lot of storage characters on the vanilla game.

There are some good bag mods when you are ready to try some mods from the workshop, and those will reduce the time you spend storing stuff.
