Okay I wasn't aware there would be ranked mode but that again implies there won't be SBMM in normal matchmaking. So not sure why OP is worried.
Most PvP games, even ones with ranked, have a hidden MMR system in their non ranked gameplay that matches you up in lobbies of similar hidden MMR. That is in and of itself SBMM. The Finals has SBMM.
If you’re a good player and you enjoy sliding out of your chair with how much you’re sweating at all times, have at it and just solely play ranked. Let others have the option of no SBMM if that’s what they want.
If you’re in the bottom 20% and SBMM is the only way you can have a decent chance of not dying in the first gunfight, just stick to ranked and get better.
I have no issue with level based match making, SBMM is always bad outside of a ranked or competitive mode.
