If anyone is having issues with their DualSense 5 controller touchpad acting as a mouse instead of the intended mapped input, try updating the controllers firmware.

I was having this issue with Days Gone using the official controller scheme, remapping the touchpad or disabling it had no effect. Instead of bringing up the skills my touchpad was turning the camera and swinging Deacons mele weapon when pressed. Updating the firmware took all of 30 seconds and now the controller acts as it should.
