I can understand that this is a bit frustrating. Technically the game could run at 1680x945 resolution on your machine, with a bit of black bars on the side. But during development, there were multiple issues with allowing any "non-standard" resolutions or aspect ratios. Standards would be 4k, 1440p, 1080p and 720p.
The issues seemed to be caused by the game engine itself - at least at the time. They might be resolved already with an engine version update. But it would require a massive amount of work just in testing, and updates like that generally break dozens of things that then need to be first found then fixed. There's only a couple of us and we simply do not have the resources to do this kind of a fix.
The solution is to accept the game at that resolution or use, for example, a FullHD monitor with 1920x1080 resolution. I'm sorry if this is a disappointing answer, but hopefully you can understand.
