Please, do not use UE5 for the sequel!

LoP still stutters quite bad, depending on the situation/area.
agreed with OP, UE5 is a resource monster, and it doesnt look much better than UE4 Lies of P

I don't get stutters.. I play with maxed settings and native AA at 3440x1440.. I get more FPS than my monitor, so I have it locked at 144.. I THINK.. I went down to like 135 FPS this last run at one point when a boss was loading in and it was going to the cutscene..

I'm genuinely curious what hardware you have?

Lets be real its not the engine its dev not optimizing there game AT ALL. They expect everyone to use DLSS or FSR

Lies of P is one of very few Unreal Engine 4 and 5 games where i don't get any stutter at all on my system (Win11, Ryzen 5800x3d, 32GB, RTX 4070 Ti with Nvidia driver v566.36).

But i get a lot of loading stutter like issues in other games that use the same engine. I don't think the problem is the engine in general but the way the devs use it and optimize the game.

Also open world games (which Lies of P isn't) seem to have these issues more often than more linear games, both in UE4 and UE5.

It's both true and not, at the same time. Game optimization is a difficult task and i bet something as complex as Unreal Engine requires quite a bit of thinkering before running content smooth.

people (game developers) may not have the correct knowledge and the best practices on how to properly optimize their content and/or apply the best settings during development.

Sure thing, hardware facilities like FSR and DLSS may lift game developers of a burden or two, but not everybody* has access to the newest hardware.

Beside that, only Capital-G-Gamers are foolish enough to expect game developers to pull a super-optimized game out the magic hat, with little effort.

*= except the sweatiest hardware/gaming enthusiasts with loads of disposable money.

source: zero game dev experience, but IT knowledge and good-old common sense
