Do things get better?
Playing this on PS5, thanks to the game being "free" on PS+ while back and based on about 6~ hours not really loving the journey as it's been slow, grindy and honestly kinda annoying with the biggest middle finger being certain enemies just comboing attack after attack together while i'm dodging or blocking instead of dealing damage.

Throw in the mildly confusing level design and i just kinda wanna tap out but seen lot of praise for this so maybe if things get better and the game becomes less of a slog compared to other Soulslikes, i might be able to push on.

Bro this game is litterally anything but grindy. Elden Ring is Grindy. Dark Souls is grindy. Lies of P is not grindy, you getting just enough ergo to progress not too much not too little it's up to you how you using them.

You said it you dodging or blocking which is basicly admiting you playing game wrong.
This game just like sekiro is about parry and parry only. You can remove dodge from game and it will be perfectly playable and fine. but if you remove parries from game it will be unplayble nightmare.

Same with level design what are you on about this is seriously linear level design with only one route to go through (more linear than even Dark Souls 3)
It's common for enemies to chain atack together it's parry base game after like.

Yeah, i don't mind parrying if it's up to me when to do it but if the game forces me to do it to survive in the long run then this ain't the game for me.

Managed to make my way to the cathedral place and it's a neverending slog, almost every encounter is the same with something running at me while something else throws or shoots things at me from outside my field of vision so it's trial and error, ad nauseum.

Going across those tiny beams and then getting pushed off by a poison projectile because there was nowhere to dodge.. this game is tedious and isn't doing anything new or exciting to keep me pushing forward though i liked the story thus far but the gameplay is a miss, love me a good Soulslike and want to love this one too but the game feels like ice skating uphill.

You could litterally dodge under it to remain on plank or parry and we both know it.
Stop shifting blame on game because you not using game mechanics and playing badly.
You didn't had issue playing Dark Souls 1 Sens Fortress and Anor Londo so don't pretend like it's big problem here.

This game has litterally more unique things than dark souls 3 and elden ring
Sorry it's not another ctrl c ctrl v rolling sim.

Just because they gimmicked things up doesn't make the game better in any way, shape or form but it's nice that you think so, to each their own as they say.

Yea because possibility of making your own weapon disassebling and reassembling weapons you found, using diffrent legion arms, ability to restore durability of your weapon using grinder instead buying consumables and breaking enemies weapon with sueccesful parry are gimmicked things.... Yes yes.

Better would be to have empty barebone open world shallow copy of dark souls like elden ring is where you don't have to learn or adapt, cuz game have nothing new introduced. Right?

Oh and don't expect to find 100% easy parry mod like to sekiro anywhere. just because you refuse to adapt to game mechanics.

in that section alone, you can block the projectile (not even with perfect timing), you can roll forward or backward across the beam, you can take cover, or you can just keep moving; all work
