Game refuses to launch (or hides itself)
Steam say's it's launched, and I see nothing come up. But I do see UE4.exe in my task manager and have to kill it.

Have restarted several times. no joy.

What gives?
I more than meet the spec requirements: i7 and GTX980 on 4k screen.

To the devs: I've sent my bug report. No game logs got created so nothing to send other than my dxdiag.txt

I have the same issue. Start the game, nothing happens at all but Steam says it's running and a UE4.exe is running. I have no idea how I could maybe make it run properly

I got it working by updating my nvidia drivers. Others got it working by updating windows. Have you tried those?

Update, sadly updating drivers and windows has not worked. I'll send in a bug report. Thanks for the help tho!

I'm having this issue as well. Fully updated my drivers and Windows 10 and still no game even though it says it's running.

Do you have a Meta VR headset by any chance? We've discovered that the Oculus app needs to be running for this game to work. Weird I know.

Sure enough, I do have a Meta headset, and opening the Oculus app made this game open. That's incredible.

I found the solution. Phasmophobia has been having the same issue and someone posted a solution there.
Go to your steam directory, and find openxr_loader.dll in this folder:
Steam\steamapps\common\Brewmaster\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\OpenXR\win64
Delete it or rename it to something else (I use openxr_loader.dll.bak, in case it's needed in the future). This resolved it immediately for me.

Thanks Spacemouse! Just tested renaming the openxr_load.dll to .bak and your solution worked for me.
No more having to open the Oculus app :)
