Playing Coop, Got Disconnected, Lost My Upgrades

While playing Co-op with a friend, I was disconnected mid-game. When I came back into the game, all the upgrades I had purchased were gone. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

The non-host should hit continue save and join through that menu. Joining someone through invite just makes a new save altogether. Its bothersome but its a workaround. The save even remembers who hosted last time so they can join through that.
this keeps your saves and points as is.
