Game probably tries to set a frequency out of range for your monitor.

Please open Regedit, find the path "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MijuGames\Planet Crafter" and set the "Screenmanager Fullscreen mode_h<numbers>" to 0x01

This changed the behavior slightly. The game started, the cursor changed, then the screen went blank.

Try setting it to 0x02. Also check if "Screenmanager Resolution Height_h<numbers>" and "Screenmanager Resolution Width_h<numbers>" have reasonable values for your monitor.

I have a rog ally x and an external 4k@60 monitor. I normally game at 1080p and let the gpu upscale and frame fill. I disable vrr

In this case it wont light up either the monitor or the ally x native screen

The H & W are 1920 x 1080
In this case with 0x2, the screen showed a 'window with title bar' then went blank. Alt-tab wouldn't work.
After a hibernate and resume cycle, the 'play' screen was visible.
Clicking play caused the monitor to go to sleep but alt-tab worked.

removing the hdmi cable to the external monitor, and the game showed on the native screen. Plugging the HDMI cable back in and the game rendered on the external monitor.
This is quite wacky. Other steam games -- satisfactory -- are launching and playing correctly

Opening up the options!graphics caused the screen to go to sleep again. Alt tab worked.

Side question, My save is currently setup to exit the planet, I can't remember how to switch it to traversing between planets. I have bought toxicity and it is downloaded.

If I understand you, you need to have the extraction platform.
If you don't want to be extracted, delete the ship on the platform and build the interplanetary rocket instead.

I finally got this to work by mirroring my screens, before the game started. Doing it after failed.
