Just curious, what did you expect to happen ?

I get a popup saying sucsessfuly subscribed or at least the filled box to turn empty

I'll presume the email box doesn't clear so it acts as a reminder that you've already signed up for the newsletter. But yes, if you got a confirmation that you successfully subscribed then the process worked and as prtmh said, you should start getting the newsletter as soon as the next one drops.
